Squeeze on economy seats
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2010 VIRGIN Blue is expected to proceed with a redefinition of its aircraft cabins on domestic and regional service standardised around three classes - premium economy, "traditional" economy and a "user-pays" economy where the cheap seats at the back of the plane will be moved closer together. The airline plans to make its discount economy seat rows identical with those of Jetstar and Tiger Airways, which have only 30 inches of space. Read Clive Dorman's full story.
